  • Bolt Norge

    21.06.11

The history of Bolt Norge and the Bondura® bolt began when a friend decided to build a dry stone wall at his farm – a famous feature of the Jæren region. He made good progress with the help of an excavator but it became increasingly difficult to position the stones. No matter how careful he was in driving the excavator, the stones did not end up where he had intended. Eventually, we concluded that it was the slack in the scoop that made things difficult. Some evenings were spent figuring out how this problem could be resolved. This resulted in the prototype of the Bondura® bolt.

Bolt Norge was established in 1986. Thus began the adventure of developing the bolt for use in construction machines and the oil and gas industry. Major oil-related companies were present during trials, which resulted in an increasing number of patents, Det Norske Veritas’ Type Approval Certificate and a general classification as Proven Technology.

We have been working with bolt and joint related problems for 25 years. This has provided us with a high degree of expertise that is increasingly used in collaboration with our customers in order to identify more effective product solutions. The products are used as original parts and spare parts both at home and abroad.

We have established a subsidiary in the USA in order to service and develop the market in North, Central and South- America. We are also working on a similar operation in Asia. Our aim is to be a global leader in expanding bolts for joint connections.

  • Control Cutter

    03.01.11

Icebergs are a huge threat in the challenging Arctic and what may appear small on the surface may be enormous below. An iceberg can make contact with a rig or installation unexpectedly creating huge strains on anchor chains and even closely monitored ice floes can rapidly change direction.

The ControlCutter is a device for the automatic, controlled cutting and securing of the ends of any type of wire or chain during uncontrolled or emergency anchor handling. The ControlCutter is a mechanical system and therefore can operate within any areas onboard rigs and vessels. Using a unique alloy in our mechanical knifes allows us to cut chains up to 162mm in less than 3 seconds.
