Seadrill
In January 2006, Seadrill acquired the Norwegian drilling contractor Smedvig (originating from a long line of ship owning activities dating back to 1915). Seadrill is today an international offshore drilling contractor providing services within drilling and well services. The combination - under the Seadrill Limited banner - is one of the world's fastest growing drilling contractors.
Together with partners, the company has 43 drilling units, of which 10 are under construction. Seadrill's versatile fleet includes harsh-environment semi-submersibles, jack-ups, shallow and deepwater tender rigs and both deepwater drill ships and semi-submersibles.
Seadrill has some 7,000 skilled and highly competent employees, many of these with more than 30 years experience, representing over 25 nationalities, operating in 15 countries on five continents.
